The story behind the game.
Nostalgia began as a shared dream between two developers. Today, it's the ambitious solo project of me, Morris "Kultura" Glowacki, a developer based in Warsaw, Poland. This is the story of an unexpected journey and the challenge of building what might be one of the few "one-person life service games" out there.
I want to extend my deepest gratitude to my colleague, Michal Krezalek. In the beginning, Michal was instrumental in setting up the backend architecture and helped organize the early stages of development. His mentorship and contributions were foundational. For personal and professional reasons, Michal had to step away, leaving Nostalgia at a crossroads.
Instead of shutting down, I embraced the challenge. Nostalgia is now a testament to creative freedom and resilience. As a solo developer, I have the unique opportunity to pour a singular, uncompromised vision into every pixel, line of code, and game mechanic. It's a monumental task, but it also means the game is a direct reflection of passion and a desire to create something truly different.
This journey allows me to build a game that blends the satisfying loop of idle games with the unique fun of physics-based mechanics—all wrapped in a distinct vaporwave art style. It’s a love letter to retro gaming, crafted with the powerful Godot 4.4 engine, and a chance to do something no one else does. I invite you to join me on this adventure and watch Nostalgia evolve.
